Month of Mary
May is the month when we celebrate our devotion to our blessed Mother. During this time, we pray to our Mother Mary and follow her as a role model.
We continue to hope and pray that Spring and the warmer weather will arrive in a more consistent way. Let us remember that May is a very special month dedicated to our Blessed Virgin Mary. We pray for her guidance! As we begin the Month of May, let us pay close attention to important events taking place. The 4, 6, and 8th grade classes will be taking their NYS Math Test on May 1 and May 2.
We ask parents that are available to help and can spare an hour of their time to come by the school from 11:20 until 12:30 to help with lunch. I want to thank you in advance for your help.
The St. Bartholomew Academy students will be receiving their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the main church. Students are to be at the church at 10:00 a.m. Please pray for them on this very special occassion as they unite with Jesus through his body and blood. As Pope Francis calls it the "Sacrament of Love" on this day, our students will connect with Jesus' great love for them and their love for him.
Our young students are growing up so quickly, the Kindergarten - 2nd grade will be taking their very first standardized test. During the week of May 16-23, our students will be administered the Diocesan Terra Nova exam. This will help up to identify what skills the students have gained for the year and will provide data for their next grade level teacher. We pray that God help them feel calm and guide them in their responses.
The 8th grade class will be taking their NYS Science performance test on May 23. As always, it is important that your child be in school and on time for testing.
The 4th grade class will be taking their NYS Science performance test on May 29. They should be in school and on time on testing day. Research shows that students perform better when they have a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast.
As the special event of graduation gets closer, the 8 grade class will be having their ring ceremony mass on May 25 at 9:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to come and celebrate with their children.
